Role Purpose
As a Buyer, you will handle the purchase of materials, equipment, and services needed for project delivery or ongoing operations. The role focuses on negotiating commercial terms, managing supplier relationships, and making sure items and services arrive on time to keep work aligned with schedules and budgets.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and execute procurement plans that reflect project scope, timelines, and budget limits.
- Identify and assess suppliers in line with strategic sourcing and category management direction, ensuring they satisfy expectations for quality, price, and delivery.
- Negotiate contracts and commercial terms with vendors to achieve beneficial agreements while reducing risk, coordinating with the Category Management team when required.
- Prepare and administer purchase orders with attention to accuracy, project requirements, and internal procedures.
- Monitor spend closely, support cost control efforts, and look for savings opportunities without affecting quality.
- Ensure procurement work follows applicable regulations, company policies, and safety requirements.
- Share procurement progress, risks, and mitigation actions with project managers and other stakeholders on a regular basis.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, engineering, business administration, or a similar discipline is required.
Experience and Skills
- Hands-on procurement experience in the oil and gas sector.
- Strong negotiating and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Working knowledge of procurement systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Good planning, organization, and analytical thinking skills.
- Understanding of industry regulations and compliance expectations.
- Ability to stay effective in a fast-moving, deadline-oriented environment.
