Car Evaluation Engineer

About the role

CARS24 is hiring an Evaluation Engineer for its used-car operations in Chandigarh, Ludhiana, and Jalandhar. This role focuses on assessing pre-owned vehicles in detail so the business can make informed procurement and pricing decisions.

What you’ll do

• Carry out thorough inspections of used vehicles and assess their overall condition.
• Check major vehicle systems such as the engine, transmission, suspension, electrical setup, bodywork, paint, and interior finish.
• Take test drives to judge how the vehicle performs on the road.
• Use diagnostic instruments and standard inspection checklists for technical evaluation.
• Spot signs of accidents, repainting, flood damage, or mechanical issues.
• Compile precise evaluation reports and update the findings in the system.
• Work closely with procurement and operations teams to support smooth vehicle acquisition.
• Follow company SOPs and quality expectations consistently.
• Interact with customers in a clear, professional, and transparent manner.

Technical and role expectations

You should have a strong grasp of automobile systems and components, engine diagnostics, vehicle body structure, and OBD/diagnostic tools. Prior exposure to identifying accidental or flood damage will be an advantage. Basic computer usage and reporting skills are also needed. The candidate must be able to drive both two-wheelers and four-wheelers and hold valid driving licenses for both.
