Role overview
This caretaker position is based in Chorley, England and follows a Monday to Friday schedule from 6:00am to 9:00am and 2:00pm to 6:00pm, across 52 weeks each year. Holiday entitlement is accrued pro rata according to the number of weeks worked.
The role is practical and varied, focusing on keeping the site safe, operational, and well maintained. You will oversee energy use, record meter readings, carry out routine fire safety checks, log maintenance issues, and complete small repair tasks as needed.
Key duties
- Track energy consumption and submit meter readings.
- Carry out regular checks of the fire alarm system in line with the planned preventative maintenance schedule.
- Complete monthly inspections of fire doors as required by the maintenance programme.
- Record faults and maintenance requests and raise them through the helpdesk.
- Handle minor repair and upkeep work, including replacing light bulbs and strips, changing fuses and plugs, clearing blocked drains, and carrying out small joinery tasks.
Candidate requirements
The successful applicant must have the legal right to work in the UK. An enhanced DBS check will be completed for the appointed person. An IOSH certificate would be an advantage, and awareness of Legionella legislation is required. You should also be confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, smartphones, and helpdesk tools.
