The role sits within a collaborative team that works closely with communications colleagues and stakeholders to support public messaging, media-related activity and internal communication needs.

The team values professionalism, clarity and flexibility, with a focus on sharing information effectively so communities and the organisation can stay well informed across Tasmania.

Key duties

  • Deliver high-quality communication support for incoming and outgoing calls using a unified attendant switchboard console, online directory, reception coverage and rostering arrangements, while maintaining strong customer service standards.
  • Keep a close watch on hospital communication, alarm and duress systems, and coordinate with security on duress alerts, screening processes and site access around the clock.
  • Act as the front reception contact for patients, members of the public and staff, while also handling departmental room keys and related equipment needs.

What you need

Applicants should either already understand, or have the ability to quickly learn, how a large intelligent network and attendant console operate. You should also have working knowledge of communication networks and support services, or the capacity to build that knowledge.

The position requires the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, both independently and as part of a team, and to manage sensitive matters with tact, discretion and confidentiality when dealing with internal and external enquiries.
