About the company
Left Field Labs creates vivid, tangible experiences from complicated ideas, new technologies, and open-ended problems. The team specializes in turning concepts that can feel abstract into moments people can truly see, feel, and understand. Their guiding principle is simple: they make it real.
Role overview
The Creative Director for Experiences will help define bold concepts, shape the narrative that wins support for them, and guide teams with leadership that empowers rather than micromanages. This position is part of the NEXT Pod and works across some of the most inventive and ambitious areas in the field.
Core focus areas
- Experiential environments such as branded worlds, immersive spaces, and both permanent and touring installations.
- Themed entertainment work, including narrative settings, attraction concepts, and destination-based experiences.
- Brand activations that capture attention, strengthen trust, and turn audiences into advocates.
- Interactive, technology-driven experiences where people actively participate instead of only watching.
What the role covers
You will own creative leadership from the earliest pitch and concept work all the way through final delivery. Success in this role means being equally effective in a competitive presentation setting and on-site during build walkthroughs.
What excellence looks like
- A body of work that goes beyond presentation slides and has been built in the real world, whether in environments, systems, installations, or interactive pieces.
- Strong command of pitch strategy and the ability to present ideas persuasively in high-stakes, competitive settings.
- Ability to build compelling stories that draw interest, create confidence, and motivate client action.
- Leadership that brings out the best in teams through clear direction, strong judgment, and a collaborative mindset.
- A refined sense of taste and a clear creative point of view that balances novelty with meaning and spectacle with substance.
Hands-on creative craft
This is not a purely supervisory role. The ideal candidate can open files, shape visuals, and directly contribute to the creative output in the room or on screen.
- Graphic and digital design skills, including visual systems, spatial graphics, concept visuals, and motion.
- 3D capability, including environmental modeling, spatial concept development, and real-time rendering.
Having strength in both areas is a major advantage; having one of them is the minimum expectation. In all cases, your hands-on skill should influence how you direct work, review outputs, and help teams arrive at the best answer quickly.
Use of AI
The team expects thoughtful use of AI and wants to understand how it helps you work better, not just faster. They are interested in how you use it to expand exploration, surface insights, strengthen ideas, and accelerate thinking while still preserving sound judgment.
Background and experience
Experience in two or more of the following areas will help a candidate stand out: experiential marketing and large-scale brand activations; themed entertainment, attraction design, or narrative environment development; permanent or touring installations; technology-forward or interactive experience design; and cultural moments such as festivals, tentpole events, world’s fairs, and fan experiences.
The team is looking for broad creative range rather than a narrow specialty, along with the ambition to keep pushing further across disciplines.
Compensation and location
The posted salary range is $150,000 to $200,000 annually and applies to roles performed in Culver City, California. Actual pay may differ above or below that range based on factors such as education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. The stated range may also change in the future.
Additional information
Hiring for this role is based in Los Angeles, California, and the position is on-site. No internship duration is applicable.
