Role overview

This position sits within Group Engineering and focuses on improving how data, reporting, automation, and digital tools are used to support engineering performance. The postholder will help drive continuous improvement, digital change, and better data governance by making effective use of Microsoft Power Platform technologies.

The role is responsible for building and refining solutions that strengthen reporting, automation, asset management, project tracking, and performance analysis. These tools will support greater efficiency, stronger compliance, improved visibility, and better decision-making across the wider engineering function.

You will work closely with teams across Engineering, Operations, Finance, Procurement, IT, and external partners to ensure engineering systems, data, and digital solutions align with business priorities and the broader transformation agenda.

The role is based from Aldridge, with the option to work remotely once you are fully trained on Biffa systems. Working days are Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Create and improve Power BI dashboards, KPI scorecards, and reporting tools that give clear insight into asset performance, compliance, maintenance activity, project progress, and operational efficiency.
  • Build and support Power Apps, Power Automate workflows, SharePoint-based solutions, and Microsoft Lists to simplify engineering processes and cut down on manual administration.
  • Maintain and optimise engineering platforms such as FleetWave, D365, telematics systems, maintenance databases, and mobile plant reporting tools.
  • Produce analysis on asset use, idle time, fuel usage, maintenance patterns, lifecycle cost, and overall fleet performance.
  • Support process standardisation, system integration, automation, and wider digital transformation work across Group Engineering.
  • Develop and maintain governance and tracking tools for major engineering projects, asset replacement programmes, and strategic initiatives.
  • Keep engineering data, asset registers, compliance records, and financial information accurate, controlled, and aligned with governance requirements.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver scalable digital solutions that improve business performance.

Requirements

  • A valid full UK driving licence is required.
  • Strong capability with the Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Practical experience creating Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Hands-on experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, and Microsoft Lists.
  • Background working with engineering, operational, maintenance, or asset management data.
  • Experience in data analysis, reporting, and process improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple datasets and several business systems at once.
