Описание работы
Role overview
Instituto Regional de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo is hiring a part-time Data Analyst at an entry to junior level. This position is based in Sydney, New South Wales, and follows a hybrid setup with a combination of office-based and work-from-home days.
What you will do
You will support the end-to-end handling of occupational health and safety data, including gathering information from a range of internal and external sources, preparing it for analysis, and checking it for accuracy and completeness. The role also includes creating simple reports and dashboards, carrying out descriptive and trend-based analysis, and turning findings into practical insights that help guide decisions.
In addition, you will work closely with senior analysts and operational teams to communicate results clearly to non-technical audiences through summaries, presentations, and explanatory notes. You will also help document data-handling steps, uphold data quality standards, and support ongoing improvements to analytics processes and tools.
Qualifications and background
The ideal candidate should have strong analytical ability, with the confidence to spot patterns, interpret datasets, and reach logical conclusions. Some training or hands-on exposure to data analytics and data modeling is expected, ideally using tools such as Excel, SQL, or basic business intelligence platforms.
A working understanding of statistics, including descriptive methods and introductory inferential ideas, is important. You should also be able to communicate clearly in writing and speaking, especially when explaining technical results to people without a technical background.
Relevant tertiary study, either completed or currently underway, in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Public Health, or a similar field is preferred. Comfort with spreadsheets and databases is needed, and familiarity with visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau will be considered an advantage.
Attention to detail, good organization, and the ability to manage responsibilities effectively in a part-time hybrid role are also important. Interest in workplace safety, health, or regulatory work is a plus, and previous internship or project exposure in those areas would be beneficial.
