Role summary

This remote contract position is for a Data Analyst II focused on the utility sector. The assignment is expected to run for 6+ months, with a strong chance that it may be extended.

What you’ll do

Examine large and complex datasets with statistical techniques to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that can improve performance and support business growth.
Create, maintain, and improve dashboards and reports so stakeholders receive accurate information on time.
Work with business teams to understand reporting needs, convert them into technical requirements, and make sure the outputs support wider business goals.
Check data for accuracy, consistency, and completeness across different sources, then investigate mismatches and apply fixes.
Partner with IT, operations, and business stakeholders to strengthen data-driven decisions and support ongoing improvement efforts.
Look for ways to simplify data processes, automate recurring reporting, and expand analytical capability.

Key skills and technical strengths

Experience managing high-volume datasets from multiple sources, including both structured and unstructured data.
Strong working knowledge of Power BI, SQL, and Python for dashboarding, querying, and advanced analysis.
Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Solid understanding of data modeling, statistics, and core data engineering concepts.
Strong troubleshooting ability, with a problem-solving mindset and a focus on root-cause analysis.
Good written and verbal communication skills for documentation, presentations, and stakeholder discussions.
