Business context
Sun Pharma emphasizes a growth-oriented culture built around progress, ownership, and teamwork. The environment encourages continuous learning, taking initiative, and collaborating closely with others to deliver results and support shared success.
Initial scope of work
The early phase of the role focuses on procurement support for engineering items, as well as QC and R&D laboratory purchase orders. This includes working with requestors in North America during the NAM EST time zone. Core tasks include raising purchase orders from purchase requisitions in SAP and through the EZ portal or similar systems, along with keeping all related SAP data current.
Expanded scope
With strong performance and potential, the role may expand to managing the same categories across multiple geographies.
Key responsibilities

It also includes maintaining procurement records, supporting cost optimization efforts, and coordinating with internal teams such as Engineering, R&D, QC, and Administration.
You will be expected to contribute to procurement strategy as directed by management, support routine ordering, work on contract closures and savings initiatives, maintain supplier relationships, and suggest process improvements that make procurement more efficient. Continuous learning in the pharmaceutical procurement space is also part of the role, including staying informed about suppliers, peer organizations, and internal or external learning opportunities.
Category coverage
The role covers procurement activity across several areas:
- R&D and QC laboratory buying, including Opex items, spares, consumables, reference standards, and outside laboratory testing services

Job requirements
The position calls for good knowledge of the purchased products and supplier base, along with strong negotiation skills and a practical understanding of logistics and payment handling. Candidates should be comfortable training others on routine ordering, order follow-up, tracking, and report creation.
Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, and preferably SAP is expected. The person should be willing to take part in improvement projects, supplier approval activities, and team initiatives that enhance procurement performance.
Additional expectations include the ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks at once, maintain a high service mindset, and communicate well in English. The role requires regular interaction with NAM buyers in their time zone.
