Role Summary
This position is for a seasoned cyber security specialist with 10+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise security architecture. The role focuses on protecting network, infrastructure, application, cloud, and compliance domains across telecom and IT environments. The work spans technologies and services such as 5G, 4G, 3G, MPLS, internet, cloud, NFVi, SDN, data centers, IoT, AI, IT, and IPTV.
The engineer will assess risk, shape security strategy, review business and technical proposals, and ensure that solutions are aligned with recognized industry standards such as SIA, NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, and 3GPP. The position also involves working closely with vendors, teams, and stakeholders to strengthen security posture and guide decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, recommend, and put in place security controls that safeguard infrastructure services using established best practices.
- Carry out detailed risk assessments for telecom and IT platforms, identifying threats, weaknesses, and business impact.
- Review technical and business proposals, spot design or process shortcomings, and define the most suitable security approach.
- Analyze security gaps across projects, applications, and vendor solutions, then document practical remediation steps.
- Oversee security vendors from selection through operations, including sizing and planning for the deployed tools and platforms.
- Coordinate and contribute to quarterly risk reviews with service owners and other stakeholders.
- Build policies, standards, and guidance for telecom and IT services, including newer technologies.
- Support teams and junior staff with expert direction on architecture and security matters.
- Draft RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs while working with vendors to balance technical suitability and financial value.
- Prepare security guidance for offerings such as mobile, IoT, and cloud environments.
- Advise on infrastructure modernization initiatives and service-owner projects from a security standpoint.
- Produce reports, documentation, and presentations covering security architecture and risk management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or cyber security.
- At least 10 years of cyber security experience, ideally within a telecom setting.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise security architecture, network and infrastructure security, application security, cloud security, and compliance.
- Working familiarity with key standards and frameworks such as SIA, NIST, AI Risk Management Framework, ISO/IEC 27001, 3GPP, ITU, and ETSI.
- Practical exposure to virtualization technologies and the security controls they require.
- Solid technical understanding of telecom and IT core infrastructure networks and services.
- Experience creating policies, standards, and guidelines for telecom and IT environments.
- Knowledge of security platforms and tools such as GRC, UTM, IPS/IDS, WAF, SIEM, IAM, PAM, DDoS, AEP, and AI/ML-based security solutions.
- Experience with vulnerability assessment and audit tools.
- Strong judgment in security planning and strategic decision-making.
- Excellent writing, documentation, and presentation skills.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CEH, or GRC.
