Role overview
RAFI by Applejack Hospitality is hiring an experienced Head Section Waitstaff member to join its North Sydney team. RAFI is a premium, award-winning dining destination known for its seasonal menu inspired by Sydney’s coastal influences, bright cocktails, a curated local beer selection, and a wine list with strong representation from nearby wineries.
What the position involves
In this role, you will deliver polished food and beverage service in a busy restaurant setting, with a strong focus on guest experience and service standards.
Key duties
- Take charge of a section on the floor and keep service running smoothly and to a high standard.
- Welcome guests, seat them appropriately, and provide attentive service throughout the meal.
- Handle food and beverage orders, including knowledge of the menu, daily specials, and suitable wine matches.
- Support, coach, and guide junior waitstaff, including providing training and feedback where needed.
- Coordinate table management and work closely with kitchen and bar teams to maintain efficient service.
- Address guest issues quickly and professionally.
- Follow all workplace health and safety rules, hygiene requirements, and RSA obligations.
- Help uphold service quality and contribute to the wider restaurant operation.
Experience and skills needed
Applicants should bring at least two years of relevant experience in a similar restaurant environment, along with strong knowledge of food and beverage service, including wine and cocktail service. The role calls for the ability to stay effective under pressure during high-volume periods, clear communication, strong interpersonal skills, and a genuine commitment to excellent guest service. A current RSA certificate is required.
Pay and working conditions
This is a full-time role offering an annual salary of $80,000 at Grade 4+, plus superannuation, in line with industry standards. Weekend and evening shifts are part of the job.
