Offshore Manager

Role overview

This position sits in a consulting business focused on capital projects, with an emphasis on marine energy and offshore infrastructure. About the team

The team operates within the Transformation Delivery capability of the Irish consulting practice. Its goal is to be a trusted adviser to clients through procurement, construction, and operational phases of major capital programmes.

Their delivery approach combines deep sector knowledge, multidisciplinary expertise, strong client partnerships, and experience across the full lifecycle of capital projects.

What the role involves

You will work directly with infrastructure clients to support the delivery of major capital programmes in marine and offshore environments. The role includes both external client-facing work and internal practice support.

Key focus areas

• Working with generation and transmission organisations, public bodies, and infrastructure developers.
• Advising clients across the full capital project lifecycle.
• Leading or supporting mobilisation, operating model design, and delivery strategy work.
• Tracking deliverables against schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
• Managing project plans, risk, assumption, issue, and dependency logs.
• Supporting delivery from project initiation through to closeout.
• Using data and sector insights to strengthen decisions and recommendations.
• Preparing polished reports, presentations, and other client-facing outputs.
• Leading smaller engagements or specific workstreams where needed.
• Reviewing programme maturity and recommending improvements.

Internal and practice responsibilities

• Supporting account management, financial oversight, and risk controls.
• Developing strong relationships with both clients and internal stakeholders.
• Helping with proposals and presentations for medium to high complexity assignments.
• Coaching, mentoring, and contributing to team capability development.
• Taking part in recruitment, training, and performance review activities.
• Continuing to build professional knowledge and technical capability.
• Following and reinforcing workplace policies and procedures.

Requirements

Applicants should have a third-level qualification in engineering, construction, or a closely related field.

For Assistant PM level, the expected background is approximately 3 to 6 years of experience as a project engineer or project coordinator on engineering capital projects.

For Project/Programme Manager level, the role typically calls for around 6 to 20 years of experience delivering large-scale engineering capital projects.

Full working rights in Ireland are required.

Preferred background

• Experience delivering offshore or marine infrastructure projects.
• Background in consulting or other client-facing environments.
• Exposure to multiple disciplines such as project management, engineering design, procurement, and contract management.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Understanding of project governance and change management.
• Professional qualifications such as PRINCE2 or PMP are beneficial.
