Marid is hiring a Technical Lead in Riyadh to take charge of its technology platform, guide the engineering function, and make sure technical choices are made with strong attention to quality, security, and long-term sustainability. This is a senior, high-accountability position for someone who is comfortable balancing hands-on technical review with team leadership and stakeholder communication.

The role sits at the center of product and engineering delivery, so you will be expected to evaluate code, question architectural approaches, and serve as the main technical owner for what the company builds and releases.

About the company

Marid is developing what it describes as the first AI-driven open banking credit card analysis platform in the GCC. Its solution is designed to help consumers and financial institutions better understand credit card usage, spending habits, and financial wellbeing through open banking data and advanced analytics. The company works within Saudi Arabia's evolving open banking environment and aligns its work with SAMA's Open Banking Framework and Vision 2030's financial sector transformation goals.

Key responsibilities

• Set and own the technical direction of the platform so that architecture decisions support scale, business objectives, and maintainability.
• Supervise and guide the engineering team, including code review, technical scrutiny, and consistent quality control.
• Build internal technical capability by improving knowledge sharing and maintaining clear documentation.
• Serve as the main technical liaison for internal teams by translating business needs into practical engineering guidance.
• Evaluate and sign off on technical outputs such as architecture documents, API definitions, and deployment approaches.
• Spot technical risks early and put mitigation plans in place before they affect delivery or operations.
• Define and uphold engineering standards, documentation discipline, and code quality practices.
• Support the hiring process for the company’s permanent engineering team over the coming months, including role definition and candidate assessment.

Candidate profile

The company is seeking someone with strong technical depth who has worked at a senior level and is comfortable being accountable for outcomes, not just task execution. You should be able to assess code and architecture critically and lead engineers with confidence.

Required qualifications

• A BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including 2 or more years in a senior or lead role.
• Solid foundation in software engineering, with experience in system design, API architecture, and data modelling.
• Background in leading or managing engineering teams while maintaining strong delivery and quality standards.
• Experience working on API-centric platforms and systems with significant integrations.
• Good understanding of security, privacy, and compliance expectations in financial or regulated settings.
• Ability to evaluate code, architecture, and technical documentation produced by others with a critical eye.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred background

• A master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in fintech, open banking, or financial services technology.
• Exposure to SAMA's Open Banking Framework or comparable regulatory environments.
• Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, along with modern DevOps practices.
• Arabic language ability.
