About the role
Wilmar International is seeking a Trader’s Assistant for its Hamilton office in Waikato, New Zealand. This role supports a commodities trader across contract execution, inventory control, export paperwork, and compliance activities.
Key responsibilities
- Handle contract, order, ticketing, and invoicing tasks in the trading platform so records remain accurate and up to date.
- Prepare export and compliance-related documentation and ensure it is managed correctly.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks, including following up on overdue payments.
- Maintain supplier relationships and work with providers, operations teams, and traders to help transactions run on schedule.
- Collect and share market intelligence while building understanding of commodity markets.
What you need to bring
The position is aimed at a highly motivated postgraduate candidate who is interested in developing a career in commodity trading.
Preferred qualifications and capabilities include a tertiary qualification at undergraduate or master’s level, ideally in Supply Chain, Agribusiness, or Commerce. If your background is outside these areas, a strong interest in learning about commodities is essential.
You should also be able to manage time effectively, work to urgent deadlines, and apply strong problem-solving skills while thinking independently.
