Role overview

This permanent, full-time position is based in Auckland and focuses on commercial finance support for Star Hospitality operations. The role partners with leaders across the hospitality business to improve venue performance, strengthen profitability, and guide better commercial decisions through financial insight and analysis.

Reporting to the Business Control Manager – Star Hospitality, the position plays an important part in shaping operational outcomes, spotting improvement opportunities, and building stronger financial capability within the wider team.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare financial analysis and reporting for labour, overheads, controllable costs, and venue-level profitability.
  • Work closely with operational leaders to provide insights that support commercial and operational decisions.
  • Run cost performance reviews and highlight opportunities to lift efficiency and profitability.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning activities.
  • Review performance at venue level and suggest practical actions to improve results.
  • Develop trusted relationships with venue managers and operational leaders to improve financial awareness across the business.
  • Contribute to governance, risk management, and financial control activities.
  • Support improvement projects, business case development, and cost optimisation initiatives.

Required experience and qualifications

  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a similar field is required; CA or CPA qualification would be a strong advantage.
  • At least 5 years of experience in commercial finance, FP&A, business partnering, cost control, or hospitality/retail finance.
  • Strong capability in analysis and financial modelling, with the ability to translate data into useful business recommendations.
  • Experience working with operational stakeholders and helping influence business decisions.
  • Clear communication and strong relationship-building abilities.
  • Advanced Excel skills, plus experience using SAP, Power BI, or comparable reporting tools.
