Carrossier

Overview

The carrossier is the specialist who brings a keen eye for finish and detail to vehicle bodywork. This role is built around spotting imperfections, even on nearly new bodies, and correcting them with precision.

The job spans four closely connected areas of work: disassembly and reassembly, sheet metal work, preparation for paint, and painting. It requires manual dexterity, practical experience, and the ability to adapt as materials, coatings, tools, and equipment continue to evolve.

Main tasks

• Carry out body repair work on vehicles, including trucks and cars
• Perform sheet metal repairs such as dent removal, structural repair, metal fabrication, and welding
• Apply filler and related preparation materials
• Sand and surface-finish repaired areas
• Paint vehicle parts and bodies
• Complete final finishing work
• Remove and reinstall components as needed
• Inspect immobilized vehicles
• Check vehicles that are under repair as well as those that have been completed

Required profile

• Work with firmness and discipline
• Be organized, reliable, and consistent in attendance
• Have a careful approach and a strong focus on quality workmanship
• Be skilled in sheet metal work, assembly, welding, body repair, and painting
• Bring knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as an advantage
• Hold a technical or vocational qualification with a diploma
• Be comfortable with one or more national languages; English or another language is considered a plus
