About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an NHS England Approved Clinical Coding Trainer to join the Torbay and South Devon (TSD) Clinical Coding Team. This role is crucial for delivering a comprehensive training program for Clinical Coding trainees and apprentices, as well as supporting the continuous professional development of the existing coding workforce. The position involves promoting high-quality clinical coding practices throughout the Trust and assisting colleagues in enhancing their understanding of coding standards and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess significant NHS experience, strong communication abilities, and effective leadership skills. Flexible working options, including hybrid and remote arrangements, are offered, along with a competitive benefits package.

Applicants must be NHS England Approved Clinical Coding Trainers. Consideration will also be given to candidates who have secured a place on the NHS England 2026/27 Clinical Coding Training Programme (CCTP) Assessment Day (scheduled for June 26th).

  • Assess learning requirements and design training pathways for trainees.
  • Implement and conduct regular training sessions for clinical coders.
  • Create and update training materials, ensuring compliance with national coding standards, and assist in developing case study training content.
  • Offer coaching, conduct feedback sessions, and professionally address coding inaccuracies.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for the Clinical Coding Department and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
