Role overview
We are looking for a Data Engineer to architect, build, and support scalable data platforms and pipelines that power analytics, AI use cases, operational reporting, and data-driven products. This position works closely with software engineers, solution architects, data analysts, data scientists, and business teams to deliver dependable, secure, and efficient data systems. The work is hands-on and spans modern data engineering stacks, cloud platforms, distributed processing, and both batch and streaming workloads. The right person will enjoy solving complex engineering problems and delivering production-grade solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Create and evolve ingestion frameworks for high-volume data collection, storage, and management across structured, semi-structured, unstructured, and streaming sources.
- Build and maintain batch as well as real-time data pipelines that can scale reliably.
- Develop workflows using tools such as Apache NiFi, Kafka, Spark, Flink, and Airflow.
- Design data models that support both analytical reporting and operational use cases.
- Work with internal product teams and external service providers on integrations and platform improvements.
- Take part in sprint planning, development, and release activities.
- Deploy data workloads in cloud and container-based environments and provide ongoing support.
- Track platform health, resolve issues, and improve performance and stability.
- Build solutions that are scalable, observable, secure, and easy to operate.
Required experience and technical background
- Proven experience designing, building, and running production data pipelines.
- Hands-on exposure to modern data lake or lakehouse setups such as Delta Lake, Iceberg, or similar technologies.
- Strong understanding of distributed data systems, data modelling, OLAP design, and change data capture concepts, including tools like Debezium.
- Experience with large-scale storage and messaging systems such as MinIO/S3 and Kafka.
- Ability to integrate enterprise systems using REST APIs, messaging systems, and event-driven patterns.
- Comfortable working with both batch and streaming processing and common data formats such as Avro, Parquet, and ORC.
- Strong scripting or programming ability.
- Experience supporting enterprise analytics and reporting platforms, plus a good grasp of containerized infrastructure and modern data technology trends.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, ELK/OpenSearch, Dynatrace, or comparable solutions.
- Prior experience in Agile development environments.
- Experience with Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Event Hubs, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Working knowledge of data governance, lineage, access control, and data security practices.
Education and qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a similar field.
- Professional certifications are considered an advantage.
- 5 to 8 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer, Big Data Engineer, or Data Platform Engineer.
