Overview
A recruitment partner is looking for a Data Scientist for an Irish client. The position is based in Galway, County Galway, Ireland and sits within a team focused on handling and analysing a large data pool to shape a strategy that increases the value and relevance of data over time.
This opportunity offers scope for technical and personal development, with room to experiment and innovate using data mining and machine learning to uncover meaningful insights.
What you will do
- Apply modern cloud tools, advanced machine learning methods and statistical modelling to use data more effectively, support better decisions and improve prediction and optimisation at scale.
- Own projects end to end, turning business problems into practical analytical outputs and actionable insights.
- Work closely with product, data and engineering stakeholders to define the problem and build analytical solutions.
- Turn findings into clear insights, relevant metrics and visual stories that help others understand the data.
- Carry out statistical exploration, data preparation, modelling, prediction, clustering, analysis and reporting.
What is needed
- A degree or master’s qualification in Data Science, Mathematics or Physics.
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience.
- Working knowledge of machine learning modelling approaches and the ability to present model outputs to engineers, clients and other stakeholders.
- A qualification at degree level in a relevant discipline; additional education is considered an advantage.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain analytical insights as a story and advocate for data science and machine learning as drivers of change.
- Experience with statistical inference, unsupervised learning, supervised learning, reliability or survivability modelling, and/or predictive maintenance.
- Solid understanding of large-scale data mining and machine learning methods for clustering, classification, regression and anomaly detection.
