About GOAL
GOAL is a humanitarian organisation that has been responding to major crises around the world since 1977. It works with vulnerable communities in 14 countries and focuses both on emergency response and on helping people recover and rebuild after crises.
Role Overview
GOAL is looking for a meticulous, service-minded Donations Officer to join its Finance team in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, Ireland. The role is central to ensuring that donations are captured correctly, matched against bank records, and administered efficiently so that donor contributions can be used effectively. You will work closely with the Fundraising team and help manage donation income across several payment channels while providing a professional experience for donors.
This position is varied and requires a high degree of accuracy, strong organisation, and the ability to juggle competing priorities. Work can become especially busy during emergency appeals and major fundraising campaigns, so flexibility and a proactive approach are important.
The role is based onsite five days a week, with the possibility of moving to a hybrid arrangement after the probation period.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter all donations into the GOAL CRM system with accuracy, then reconcile CRM records against bank statements and transfer summary donation information into Sage for further matching.
- Handle day-to-day transactions through online banking tools, payment-processing platforms, and donation systems.
- Carry out monthly bank reconciliations within Finance deadlines.
- Prepare cheques and cash deposits for bank lodging.
- Process card donations, including donations taken by phone.
- Receive and process donations from office visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
- Administer regular giving methods such as direct debits and standing orders.
- Maintain clear and cooperative communication with Fundraising and IT colleagues.
- Support month-end close tasks as required by the Finance timetable.
- Help prepare and submit tax-related claims connected to donations.
- Manage petty cash for the office.
Requirements
- Prior work experience in finance or administration.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good reconciliation ability and attention to data accuracy.
- Confidence in spotting discrepancies or unusual items and responding appropriately.
- Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to handle several tasks at once.
- Competence with Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience using internet banking and payment collection tools.
Why This Role May Appeal
- Opportunity to contribute to a well-regarded humanitarian organisation.
- A chance to build finance and administration experience through exposure to reconciliations, CRM systems, and other financial processes.
- Close collaboration with Finance, Fundraising, and IT teams in a values-driven workplace.
Additional Information
The organisation encourages applications even from candidates who do not meet every requirement listed. GOAL is committed to accessibility and inclusive recruitment, and candidates who need reasonable accommodation during the application or interview process are invited to contact the Recruitment Team at [email protected].
