Role Summary

The Hardware Technician for Transaction Payment Solutions will support the installation, configuration, repair, and ongoing maintenance of POS terminals and related payment equipment. The role combines hands-on technical repair work with stock control, reporting, customer support, and administrative follow-up to keep service delivery running smoothly.

Core Duties

  • Set up, install, configure, and upgrade payment terminals.
  • Register new devices in the LMP system and record faulty equipment as it is received.
  • Inspect returned terminals, identify problems, and assess what type of repair is required.
  • Carry out electronic fault finding and component-level repairs on circuit boards, including alignment, soldering, and testing.
  • Prepare repair quotations and complete repairs after approval is received.
  • Retire terminals from service or strip them for usable spare parts when needed.
  • Track the movement, storage, and inventory of terminals, parts, and spare components.
  • Perform monthly stock counts accurately and keep inventory records organized.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels to support client demand.
  • Manage incoming orders and plan workloads to meet strict service timelines.
  • Handle customer documentation such as delivery notes and orders, and ensure paperwork reaches the South Africa office on time.
  • Respond to customer questions and issues promptly.
  • Deliver terminals directly to client locations when required.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports covering stock counts and terminal fulfillment.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong practical experience in electronic repair and maintenance of electronic equipment, especially mobile POS terminals.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electronic circuits at component level.
  • Hands-on skills in aligning, soldering, and testing printed circuit boards.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and repairing payment terminals.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good planning, organizing, and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong communication skills for dealing with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, stay motivated, and maintain high quality standards.
  • Team-oriented approach and willingness to collaborate effectively.
  • A clean light motor vehicle driving licence is an advantage.
