Housekeeper/Driver

Position Overview

Reporting to the Environmental Services Manager or an assigned delegate, this role combines housekeeping support with resident transportation assistance. The position helps maintain a clean, safe, sanitary, and inviting setting for residents, visitors, and team members, while also coordinating and providing transportation for residents to medical visits, recreational activities, and other off-site destinations in line with all relevant federal, state, and local rules.

Working Details

This is a full-time position scheduled on the day shift.

Key Duties

• Carry out housekeeping tasks ranging from light cleaning to more detailed cleaning in resident apartments and shared spaces, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and sanitizing bathrooms and kitchens, along with floor maintenance.
• Handle laundry responsibilities by gathering, washing, folding, and distributing resident clothing and linens.
• Complete deep-cleaning work in apartments when residents move out.
• Remove trash and recyclables and keep assigned areas neat and orderly.
• Escalate maintenance concerns, such as lighting or equipment problems, without delay.
• Maintain safe, sanitary conditions while using infection-control practices and universal precautions.
• Provide dependable transportation for residents to appointments, shopping trips, and group or community outings.
• Build and manage daily and weekly transportation plans, including appointment tracking and recurring outing schedules.
• Communicate clearly with residents, coworkers, and outside partners to keep transportation running efficiently and on time.
• Support residents with mobility limitations by helping them board vehicles, secure mobility aids, and travel safely.
• Observe resident well-being during trips and relay any concerns to the appropriate staff members.
• Keep vehicles ready for use through cleaning, fueling, preventive maintenance checks, and accurate logging of mileage and usage.
• Work with leadership and other staff to improve transportation workflows and arrange alternate transport options when necessary.
• Help coordinate staff support for resident appointments when needed.
• Follow all safety, infection-control, and universal precaution procedures.
• Treat residents with respect while protecting privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
• Stay alert to resident needs and take initiative to create a comfortable, welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or an equivalent credential is required.
• A valid driver's license is mandatory, along with a clean and safe driving record.
• Experience working in assisted living or with older adults is preferred.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal abilities are important.
• You should be able to work on your own in a busy, team-focused environment.
• Applicants must be capable of helping residents move on and off the bus and into appointments or other destinations as needed.
• Basic computer proficiency and strong organizational skills are required.
