About the Role

This position is for a Commercial HVAC Installation Team Leader based on site in Wellington. You will guide the daily work of a crew of 3 to 6 installers across commercial HVAC projects, combining practical installation duties with leadership, coordination, and quality oversight.

The role involves working alongside Project Managers to make sure each installation is carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard, while also helping the team grow and perform well.

Key Duties

• Direct and organise a crew of 3 to 6 HVAC installers working on commercial jobs
• Take part in and supervise the installation of HVAC equipment, including ducting, piping, and related mechanical tasks
• Review and understand drawings, technical specifications, and project paperwork
• Make sure all work is delivered safely, on schedule, and to the required quality level
• Identify technical problems and handle site issues in an effective way
• Support apprentices and junior team members through coaching and guidance
• Work with Project Managers and other trades to help projects progress smoothly

Experience and Skills

• Previous hands-on experience in commercial HVAC installation
• Leadership background, or the capability to move into a supervisory role
• Good knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork, pipework, and mechanical services
• Confidence in reading plans, drawings, and specifications
• Strong communication and problem-solving ability
• Comfortable managing workloads, deadlines, and changing priorities on site
• A full New Zealand driver licence is preferred
• Refrigeration or HVAC trade training is beneficial, though not required for the right person
