Role overview
In this inside sales position, you will support existing customers by driving orders, growing account revenue, and improving the buying experience. The role centers on proactive selling, account expansion, and close coordination with the outside sales team to help achieve business targets.
What you will do
- Handle customer orders received by phone and email, confirm item details, route orders to fulfillment, and communicate stock shortages as well as estimated delivery timelines.
- Grow order volume by recommending complementary products, highlighting product features, and reviewing purchase history.
- Own and develop opportunities passed along from marketing, field sales, and national account teams.
- Look for practical ways to improve internal processes and day-to-day workflows.
- Prepare, issue, and follow up on verbal and written quotations to convert opportunities into orders or understand why business was lost.
- Monitor open order reports and act on pending items, especially those that may affect promised delivery dates.
- Maintain backorder and expediting reports, along with customer notices and updates.
- Share market trends, competitor pricing, and customer feedback with management.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Background in sales and sales administration is needed, with 2 to 4 years of experience and growing professional proficiency.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office and performing basic computer tasks.
- Ability to manage several tasks at the same time.
- Strong teamwork mindset and the ability to work well with others.
- Clear communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to prospect and present ideas or solutions to current and potential accounts.
- Capable of solving moderately difficult issues and choosing from available solutions.
- Able to work independently with general supervision.
- Willingness to travel between 0% and 25%.
