Junior Data Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking an early-career Junior Data Engineer who is eager to contribute to dependable data pipelines and help the business make better decisions through well-managed data. This position suits someone who enjoys solving problems, working with information systems, and developing technical skills in a supportive remote setting.

What You Will Do

• Assist with the creation, testing, and upkeep of data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows.
• Support the movement and consolidation of data from different sources into central systems.
• Help maintain data accuracy, consistency, and quality across multiple datasets.
• Work alongside analytics and engineering teams to meet data requirements.
• Contribute to database administration, performance improvements, and technical documentation.
• Help investigate and resolve issues related to data and pipelines.
• Take part in ongoing enhancements to data architecture and operational processes.

Requirements

• Suitable for a Junior / Associate level professional with around 0–3+ years of experience.
• Prior exposure to data-focused roles, internships, or academic projects is expected.
• Working knowledge of SQL and at least one programming language such as Python.
• Understanding of core data concepts including ETL, APIs, and databases.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Interest in learning data engineering tools and cloud-based platforms.
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team.
• Fluent in English.
• Must be located in New Zealand and legally authorized to work full-time.
