Key duties
The role involves keeping the kitchen clean, well-stocked, and compliant with hygiene and safety standards. You will support chefs and cooks, help manage stock, and ensure the workspace stays efficient throughout service.
- Clean dishes, utensils, and kitchen tools by hand or with industrial dishwashing equipment
- Receive deliveries, put supplies away, and move stock around the site
- Maintain hygiene by cleaning and sanitising surfaces, counters, and food preparation areas
- Remove waste, empty bins, and ensure rubbish is disposed of correctly
- Support food preparation by peeling, chopping, and slicing ingredients when needed
- Help with receiving, storing, and organising food items and kitchen supplies
- Keep the kitchen tidy, follow health and safety practices, and help ensure equipment remains in working order

No formal education is needed for this role, though a high school diploma or similar qualification may be preferred. The ideal person should be physically capable of standing for long periods and lifting heavy items. Attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions, and strong teamwork and communication skills are important. Familiarity with kitchen equipment and sanitation practices would be an advantage.
