As a Laundry Attendant, you will help keep hotel guest-room linen and terry clean, cared for, and ready for use. In properties with food and beverage operations, the role also includes handling F&B linen. You will coordinate with housekeeping leadership to monitor inventory levels and make sure linen par standards are maintained on guest floors.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect used linens from laundry chutes and carts.
- Sort, wash, dry, fold, and properly store linen and terry items.
- Handle heavy, wet laundry while loading and unloading washers and dryers.
- Work with housekeeping and, where applicable, food and beverage teams to distribute clean linens and terry.
- Operate laundry equipment such as washers, dryers, flat irons, and irons as required.
- Keep cleaned linen and terry stocked in the correct storage and service areas.
- Maintain daily inventory records so hotel departments have the supplies they need.
- Replenish laundry supplies from storage as instructed.
- Keep the laundry area orderly and clean, including sweeping and mopping when needed.
- Clean washers and dryers regularly, including lint trays, dryer vents, and machine surfaces.
- Use cleaning chemicals safely and in line with procedures.
- Follow OSHA rules, along with department and company policies.
- Support other housekeeping tasks whenever needed.
- Respond to guest housekeeping needs promptly, within 10 minutes.
- Use guest names appropriately in guest corridors, occupied rooms, and public spaces.
Requirements
- Ability to understand, read, write, and speak basic English for communication with team members and guests.
- Comfort following simple one- or two-step instructions and working in routine situations.
- Availability for flexible shifts.
- Strong customer service approach.
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
- Team-oriented attitude.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, repeat arm and leg movements, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk, climb, balance, talk, and hear.
- Ability to work around cleaning chemicals, warm temperatures, and dust.
- Capacity to lift wet laundry regularly up to 10+ pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Good close, distance, and color vision.
- Ability to perform effectively in mentally and physically demanding situations.
- High school education or equivalent is preferred.
- Some related experience or training is preferred.
