Role overview

INNIO Group is hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Technician / Millwright to join the maintenance function at its Welland, Ontario manufacturing site. In this role, you will help support the production of high-quality reciprocating gas engines by keeping plant machinery and equipment operating reliably, from routine upkeep through to more complex repairs.

What the role involves

• Carry out routine and advanced mechanical maintenance on plant machinery and production equipment.
• Identify faults, irregularities, and breakdown causes, then troubleshoot and resolve them.
• Use diagrams, schematics, and service manuals to plan and carry out repairs correctly.
• Handle rigging tools and dollies to move heavy equipment and parts safely.
• Install and fit bearings, align gears and shafts, replace pumps, and connect motors, couplings, and belts to precise tolerances.
• Follow all applicable health, safety, and environmental rules, policies, and legislation.
• Use predictive and preventive maintenance practices to reduce unplanned equipment failures.
• Record service work and preventive maintenance tasks in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS-Fiix).
• Convert service requests into work orders when needed.
• Work with external service partners and OEMs for machinery and equipment overhauls as required.
• Support Welland Gas Engines production and maintenance through varied and complex assignments.
• Report unusual conditions involving materials, products, or equipment to supervision.
• Operate cranes, jacks, and lift trucks to position machinery and components during installation, setup, and repair work.
• Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and maintain both basic and advanced precision machine tool components.

Qualifications and experience

• Valid 433A Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) certificate of qualification or an equivalent credential.
• Red Seal certification.
• 2 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Background in mechanical fabrication and assembly, automation and robotics, machine repair, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
• Proven ability to install, maintain, align, and adjust precision machines as well as hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Familiarity with CNC equipment such as Okuma, Makino, Nile Simmons, Mori Seiki, and WFLs.
• Working knowledge of clearances, tolerances, bearings, and precision components.
• Basic computer proficiency, including MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to plan and schedule maintenance work at a basic level.
• Experience with a computerized maintenance management system is considered an advantage.

Compensation and benefits

The salary for this position is between CAD 85,000 and CAD 96,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
