This opportunity is for a Python Engineer in Germany, working for a partner organization that handles the application process and all subsequent hiring steps. The role centers on building dependable backend systems that power advanced genomic analysis and precision healthcare solutions. You will join a distributed engineering environment and help shape scalable web applications, APIs, and server-side services used by researchers and healthcare professionals across the globe.

Key accountabilities

Create, improve, and support backend applications and server-side components using Python, Django, and related tools.
Develop and refine core web platforms, APIs, and backend services with a strong focus on speed, stability, and scalability.
Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs that enable smooth integration between frontend and backend systems.
Take part in architecture conversations, code reviews, test planning, and efforts to improve system performance.
Work closely with frontend developers, product managers, and subject matter experts to deliver complete, high-quality product features.
Support releases, monitoring, operational activities, and shared on-call duties when needed.
Protect software quality through unit, integration, and functional testing, while following solid engineering practices.
Own assigned features end to end, from early design through implementation, validation, and delivery.

Required qualifications

A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or another relevant technical discipline.
At least 3 years of professional backend development experience using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework in live production settings.
Strong grasp of software design concepts, backend system architecture, and best engineering practices.
Hands-on experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
Good knowledge of relational databases; experience with MariaDB is a notable advantage.
Experience with unit, integration, and functional testing approaches for quality assurance.
Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
A flexible, team-oriented approach with comfort working across multiple technologies and responsibilities.
Exposure to Google Cloud Platform, Ansible, Bootstrap, React, or similar tools is beneficial.
Genuine interest in bioinformatics, genomics, or healthcare technology is highly appreciated.
