About the Role
The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) is moving with purpose toward Brisbane 2032 and the years beyond. Following strong performances by Queensland athletes at the most recent Olympic and Paralympic Games, the organisation is now building toward more medal success at Los Angeles 2028 and its home Games in 2032.
This is a hands-on HR leadership opportunity within Queensland’s elite sport system. The role focuses on delivering practical people solutions, navigating complex employment issues, and supporting a workforce culture grounded in values and high performance.
The Senior Human Resources Officer is responsible for supporting key workforce activities as QAS strengthens its operating model as a statutory body. A major initial focus is leading the rollout of a new learning management system to ensure a smooth transition for staff and the organisation.
Working with leaders and key stakeholders, you will help make sure HR systems, services, and governance arrangements are implemented well, risks are managed appropriately, and people practices support capability, accountability, and a strong performance culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the final stage of the project to establish HR systems and services that support QAS in its statutory body structure.
- Drive the full implementation of a new Learning Management System, including stakeholder consultation, vendor selection, system setup, change management, and organisation-wide launch.
- Review mandatory training programs to confirm they meet legislative, regulatory, and organisational obligations, while also identifying improvement opportunities.
- Help develop, implement, and continuously improve HR policies, procedures, and governance frameworks so they align with statutory and industrial requirements.
- Work in partnership with stakeholders to strengthen HR capability and support a high-performance culture through effective people practices, coaching, and constructive feedback.
- Provide timely, service-oriented HR support and use data plus feedback to improve processes, service delivery, and employee experience.
- Assist with HR reporting, record management, and risk management tasks to maintain accurate documentation, effective controls, and readiness for audit.
