Role overview
Trimble’s CTCT division is looking for an intermediate C++ Software Engineer to help shape positioning and control technology for heavy construction and mining equipment. In this role, you will contribute to software that supports machine guidance and control using tools such as GPS, lasers, IMUs, optical total stations, and sonics. The work is based in Christchurch and is centered on delivering reliable, high-quality software that improves how earthmoving and paving machines operate in the real world.

What you will do
- Contribute to C++, Android, and web software for modern machine control products.
- Work closely with overseas subject-matter experts and development teams to deliver practical customer outcomes.
- Apply solid software engineering principles to improve reliability, predictability, and overall product quality.
- Help design, build, and support positioning and control systems used in demanding field environments.
Required experience and skills
- At least 2 years of professional C++ development experience.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Mechatronics, or a similar field.
- A strong interest in innovation along with curiosity and a willingness to keep learning.
- Well-developed analytical thinking, decision-making ability, and written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with Java/Android or a modern web framework, especially Angular.
- Exposure to both Linux and Windows development environments.
- Hands-on experience with C++ unit testing and test automation.
- Experience working in scaled agile delivery environments.
Location and work details
This is an on-site role based in Christchurch, New Zealand. The office is located on the Little River Link Cycleway and serves as the engineering center for the region, with more than 450 staff on site. Travel is expected to be 0%.
