Role Summary
The Technical Officer will support the smooth running of airport baggage handling systems, coordinate response to system faults, guide technicians, and help maintain operational continuity during breakdowns. The role also involves assisting with preventive and corrective maintenance coordination, system troubleshooting support, reporting, and analysis.
Key Duties
- Serve as the point of contact for system-related matters and report issues to the Shift Engineer.
- Keep an eye on system performance and confirm that operations remain normal.
- Track faults in the system as well as any baggage flow disruptions.
- Supervise technicians while they carry out their assigned work.
- Act quickly when faults occur by dispatching technicians without delay.
- Arrange baggage diversion during breakdowns so the flow stays uninterrupted.
- Keep the Shift Engineer updated with timely information and regular progress reports on system issues.
- Coordinate personnel deployment to speed up recovery from breakdowns.
- Ensure the CM/PM schedule is completed as planned.
- Check that tools and equipment are inspected, calibrated, and valid for safe technician use.
- Support the Shift Engineer during troubleshooting and system updates.
- Help management with report preparation and submission.
- Assist with data analysis and statistical reporting.
Requirements
- Diploma in an engineering-related discipline.
- Working knowledge of SCADA is helpful, though not mandatory because training will be provided.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Good interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Comfortable working on a rotating 3-shift schedule.
- Willing and able to work overtime when needed.
- A Class 3 driving licence would be an added advantage, but it is not essential.
- Applicants should show a strong eagerness to learn.
- The job is based in a restricted airport area, so airport pass applications will be screened by the Airport Police Division.
Additional Information
This position is based on-site in Singapore and requires work in a controlled airport environment. Shift work and overtime may be part of the normal schedule, and access clearance is subject to airport security screening.
