Vulnerability Analyst

Overview

This remote contract role is for a Vulnerability Analyst supporting security testing efforts across networks, applications, and systems. The engagement offers hourly pay between $30 and $90 and is expected to require 10 to 40 hours each week.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out in-depth penetration testing and controlled attack simulations to identify security weaknesses across infrastructure, applications, and systems.
• Run vulnerability reviews, interpret the results, and rank risks according to their potential business impact and ease of exploitation.
• Work with internal stakeholders to agree on test scope and ensure the assessment aligns with business goals.
• Prepare detailed documentation of findings and present reports in a way that is useful for both technical teams and non-technical audiences.
• Create practical remediation recommendations and advise teams on how to implement them effectively.
• Keep up with new threats, attack techniques, and current security best practices.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on background in ethical hacking, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessment methods.
• Good working knowledge of security frameworks, protocols, and common tools including Metasploit, Burp Suite, and Nmap.
• Ability to communicate findings clearly in writing and verbally in a concise, actionable format.
• Solid understanding of security across networks, applications, and cloud environments.
• Experience with social engineering and physical security assessments will be an advantage.
• Professional certifications such as OSCP, CEH, or GPEN are preferred.
