Area Director

Role Overview

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced Area Director to guide several physical therapy clinics within a growing regional network. The position blends clinical leadership with business strategy, with responsibility for operational results, care quality, and expansion across multiple locations. The right candidate will help drive patient outcomes, uphold compliance standards, and support overall business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day and strategic direction of multiple physical therapy sites across an assigned district.
• Create and execute plans that improve financial performance, operational productivity, and overall clinic growth.
• Maintain high standards of clinical care while ensuring every location follows applicable regulations and compliance requirements.
• Hire, coach, and develop clinic directors, while setting clear expectations and holding teams accountable for results.
• Track performance indicators such as patient outcomes, productivity, and financial performance.
• Develop strong connections with referral partners, healthcare organizations, and community groups.
• Work closely with executive leadership to keep district operations aligned with broader organizational objectives.
• Spot opportunities for new services, market growth, and additional clinic development.
• Manage regional budgeting and capital spending plans for clinic operations.
• Support a positive workplace culture centered on patient care quality and employee engagement.

Qualifications

• A Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree or a Master’s in Physical Therapy from a CAPTE-accredited program is preferred, or the ability to become eligible for one of these.
• Active physical therapy licensure in good standing, or eligibility to obtain it, is preferred.
• At least 5 years of clinical experience, including 3 or more years in progressively responsible management positions.
• Strong history of managing multiple healthcare sites successfully.
• Solid business understanding, including experience with P&L oversight, budgeting, and strategic planning.
• Good knowledge of healthcare reimbursement structures, compliance rules, and quality measures.
• Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
• Experience using healthcare technology platforms and making decisions based on data.
• Willingness to travel regularly between clinic locations within the district, about 20% to 30% of the time.
