Role Purpose
This position assists the Procurement Manager in handling the full procurement cycle, from tendering and contract drafting to supplier coordination and vendor management. The role is responsible for supporting procurement in alignment with company standards, Delegation of Authority requirements, and contractual obligations. It also helps monitor supplier performance, uphold quality and health, safety and environmental standards, and improve value and efficiency across purchasing activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee routine purchasing activity and contribute to greater efficiency through standardization, automation, and outsourcing where appropriate.
- Assist with prequalification checks for potential bidders.
- Help prepare tender packs, agreements, and contract conditions in accordance with Delegation of Authority rules.
- Draft Request for Proposals following internal procurement processes and approval requirements.
- Support the evaluation of tenders to identify and appoint appropriate consultants and contractors.
- Review and compile contract documentation before execution.
- Contribute to managing relationships with key suppliers, partners, and third parties to support negotiation and secure strong long-term value.
- Assess supplier performance, maintain the preferred vendor list, and follow up on poor-performing providers when required.
- Monitor outstanding orders and coordinate with vendors on delayed deliveries to reduce the risk of shortages.
- Ensure all work complies with company standards, policies, and procedures.
- Confirm that procurement activities are carried out safely and in line with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Verify that applicable quality assurance and quality control procedures are followed.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a closely related discipline.
- Professional membership with RICS, CIOB, or a comparable body is preferred.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong understanding of major contract forms such as FIDIC, NEC, and JCT.
- Excellent English literacy.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Good knowledge of current industry practices.
- Prior experience working for a developer or within a cost consultancy environment in a similar capacity.
- Experience dealing with contractual frameworks and standard form contracts.
