Role Summary
This full-time, on-site Baker position is based in Salmon Arm, BC. The successful candidate will produce a range of baked goods, including breads, cookies, and similar items, while following recipes and quality expectations. The role includes measuring and combining ingredients, using bakery equipment, watching baking times and temperatures, and making sure finished products look consistent and appealing. The baker will also help keep the workspace clean and orderly, follow food safety and sanitation practices, manage stock rotation, and support packaging and labeling of baked items. Working closely with the team, this person will help plan daily output, respond to customer needs, and maintain an efficient, positive kitchen operation.
Key Duties
- Prepare and bake breads, cookies, and other bakery items according to established recipes.
- Accurately measure, mix, and handle ingredients during food production.
- Operate baking equipment and monitor baking conditions such as time and temperature.
- Maintain product quality, consistency, and presentation standards.
- Keep the baking area clean, organized, and compliant with sanitation requirements.
- Rotate stock and assist with packaging and labeling finished products.
- Coordinate with the team to plan daily production and meet customer demand.
- Contribute to a smooth, efficient, and positive kitchen environment.
Qualifications
- Experience working in bakery operations, ideally in a commercial or retail bakery setting.
- Ability to produce baked goods with consistent quality.
- Practical food preparation experience, including precise measuring and mixing.
- Hands-on experience making cookies and similar pastries with attention to texture and appearance.
- Experience with bread and yeast-based baking, including dough handling and proofing.
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices in a kitchen or bakery.
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift moderate weights, and work in a busy environment.
- Good time management, dependability, and attention to detail.
- Availability to work early mornings, weekends, or holidays when required.
- Previous work in a bakery, café, or food production setting is considered an asset.
