Role overview

St. Michael’s House is recruiting a Basic Grade Occupational Therapist to join its Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) in Dublin North. Key role focus

The Occupational Therapist will contribute to a collaborative multidisciplinary team delivering community-based support for children with a range of complex disabilities. The post holder will work in line with family-centred practice and will help provide assessment, intervention and planning for children and their families.

Essential requirements

  • A Degree or Master’s qualification in Occupational Therapy accredited by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists.
  • Registration with CORU, or active progress toward registration.
  • Demonstrated experience after qualification, or during final clinical placements, working with children who have complex disability-related needs.
  • Strong communication skills and effective time management.
  • Ability to work independently in a self-directed way.
  • Capability to manage complex cases as part of a team.
  • Clear commitment to delivering high-quality, family-centred, community-based services.
  • Evidence of ongoing commitment to CPD in the relevant field.

Preferred experience

  • Experience working with children with complex needs such as ASD, intellectual disability and physical disability.
  • Background in 24-hour postural management, supported by a recognised seating/postural management course.
  • Experience applying sensory integration approaches, supported by a recognised sensory integration course.
  • Previous involvement in Assessment of Need work.
  • Full clean driving licence and access to a car.

Pay and contract information

The salary scale is €45,514 to €65,068, including LSI. Candidates without prior public sector experience will start at point 1 of the scale. A panel will be formed for future opportunities across the four St. Michael’s House CDNTs.
