About the organisation
For more than 80 years, St John ACT has played a central role in the Canberra community by providing first aid services that save lives and by assisting people when support is needed most. As the environment around the organisation evolves, it is looking for values-led leaders to help shape its next stage.
Board opportunity
Expressions of interest are invited for up to three Board Director roles. This is a chance to contribute at a strategic level, help improve outcomes for the community, and support a respected organisation with a clear public purpose.
What the Board is looking for
- Leadership in commercial strategy and business development
- Capability in finance, accounting, or risk management, with CPA or CA qualifications preferred
- Well-established networks across business, government, or community sectors in the ACT region
- Previous governance experience, especially within federated or not-for-profit organisations
- AICD accreditation or an equivalent qualification, which would be an advantage
Key qualities
- A strategic outlook and current governance knowledge
- Strong understanding of financial and risk matters
- High standards of integrity, good judgement, and a collaborative approach
- A sincere commitment to creating positive community impact

Applicants must be based in Canberra and be prepared to take an active role in Board activities. St John ACT is also committed to creating a diverse and inclusive Board that better represents the community it serves.
