Role overview
This role focuses on growing a portfolio of SME and other banking customers by winning new business and expanding existing relationships. The position combines sales, credit evaluation, client servicing, and coordination with internal teams to deliver end-to-end banking solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and secure new SME and existing banking customers through proactive outreach, while uncovering cross-sell opportunities within the current client base.
- Assess customer needs and propose appropriate solutions across products such as loans, deposits, FX, and other banking offerings.
- Develop and manage a healthy sales pipeline and maintain regular follow-up with prospects and clients.
- Lead client meetings, product presentations, and post-meeting follow-ups to progress opportunities.
- Perform credit evaluation and due diligence on new SME customers, including financial review and risk identification.
- Design banking propositions that fit the client’s requirements and the organisation’s risk parameters.
- Work closely with credit and product stakeholders to drive approval outcomes.
- Ensure adherence to internal procedures and applicable regulatory standards.
- Prepare and process applications, coordinating with support teams to complete loan and service fulfilment.
- Verify that all required documents are complete before submission and coordinate with credit, operations, legal, and other teams as needed.
- Monitor application progress, chase pending items, and help accelerate approvals.
- Support disbursement and the delivery of banking services, and help resolve processing issues or mismatches.
Skills and experience needed
The ideal candidate should bring strong SME client acquisition capability, a structured approach to pipeline management, sound financial and credit assessment ability, and confidence in solution-oriented selling. The role also requires effective negotiation, networking, relationship building, collaboration across functions, and a determined, target-driven mindset.
