Role Overview
This position is responsible for shaping the organization’s growth agenda by spotting new business opportunities, strengthening relationships in key markets, and turning strategic ideas into practical initiatives. The role calls for a strong grasp of market behavior, customer expectations, and competitor activity, along with the ability to judge whether opportunities fit broader organizational goals.
The Business Development Manager will work closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to move initiatives forward, ensure alignment with executive direction, and support the approval of important investments. Success in the role depends on persuasive communication, confident negotiation, and the ability to build consensus with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Research market conditions in depth to uncover expansion opportunities and emerging trends.
- Create and roll out business development plans that support the organization’s strategic priorities.
- Develop and nurture relationships with prospects, partners, and industry contacts to open up collaboration opportunities.
- Partner with marketing and sales teams to design value propositions suited to target customers’ needs.
- Build business cases and present them to senior leadership to obtain funding and resources for new initiatives.
- Review competitor moves and market changes to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for strategic adjustment.
- Guide cross-functional teams through the delivery of business development initiatives while staying aligned with operational and organizational goals.
- Negotiate external agreements and contracts in a way that supports company priorities and compliance obligations.
- Monitor KPIs, evaluate performance, and refine tactics based on results.
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships that create mutual value through shared strengths.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in business development or a related function, with a demonstrated record of revenue growth.
- Proven ability to spot, assess, and convert new market opportunities in a competitive environment.
- Solid understanding of corporate finance, market research methods, and analytical tools used to judge growth opportunities.
- Experience building strategic partnerships and managing relationships with stakeholders at different organizational levels.
- Strong project management capability, including handling several initiatives at once under tight timelines.
- Ability to work effectively with marketing, sales, and product teams to maintain a unified growth approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare compelling presentations and reports for executives.
- Experience negotiating complex contracts and commercial agreements.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the judgment to assess risk and choose sound actions.
- Adaptability and resilience in fast-changing environments, with the ability to navigate uncertainty effectively.
- Good awareness of industry trends and competitor behavior, and the ability to turn insights into practical action.
