Cable Laying Supervisor

Job purpose

We are looking for a Cable Laying Supervisor to oversee cable lay operations with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and equipment reliability. This role is responsible for ensuring cable laying activities are executed correctly and that all related equipment is properly maintained and ready for use.

Key responsibilities

• Guide and upskill crew members on the operation, upkeep, and repair of cable laying equipment so they can work safely and effectively.
• Prepare and share detailed daily activity updates with the Barge Superintendent, covering work progress, equipment condition, and any operational concerns.
• Keep spare parts, tools, and equipment inventories complete and current to avoid disruptions and delays.
• Confirm that all required cable laying tools, equipment, and accessories are on board and correctly prepared before work begins.
• Maintain accurate records of every accessory mobilized with cable laying equipment for traceability and asset control.
• Oversee dismantling and demobilization of cable laying equipment, and ensure equipment is properly maintained while idle.
• Track equipment condition before and after cable laying work so maintenance needs can be identified early and efficiency can be sustained.
• Work closely with the Chief Mechanic to support timely inspections, servicing, and maintenance activities.
• Put appropriate controls in place to maintain a safe work environment for both personnel and equipment.
• Ensure all tasks follow company procedures, policies, and HSE requirements.
• Coordinate with offshore operations and engineering teams to keep cable laying work aligned with project timelines and technical specifications.
• Watch ongoing cable laying operations, spot issues or delays, and take corrective action to keep the project on schedule.

Requirements

• Secondary School Certificate, along with a technical qualification relevant to the discipline, or an equivalent credential.
• At least 10 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry in a relevant capacity.
• Strong working knowledge of cable lay equipment and its maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise teams effectively.
• Clear and effective communication skills.
• Strong planning and organizational ability.
• Good problem-solving capability and a practical approach to resolving operational issues.
