Role overview
Join a busy café team where each shift blends food preparation, friendly service, and keeping the space running smoothly. In this role, you’ll help create a welcoming experience for customers by serving food and drinks, maintaining high food safety standards, and making sure the café stays clean, tidy, and well organised.
The position is designed for someone who enjoys hands-on work, thrives in a fast-moving setting, and takes pride in delivering consistent service. The café offers flexible working hours, opportunities to progress, and a supportive team environment.
New team members are offered a minimum of 8 guaranteed hours per week. Working times are planned around set availability windows, and scheduled shifts are shared 3 weeks in advance. If your availability is close to, but not exactly the same as, the advertised times, the team still encourages you to apply.
Applicants must be 18 years old or above for this role.
Key duties
- Keep kitchen tools, equipment, and utensils clean and ready for use.
- Provide fast, attentive, and courteous service to customers.
- Follow hygiene and food safety rules, including maintaining required daily records.
- Use FIFO stock rotation to help keep ingredients fresh.
- Receive deliveries and store food safely and correctly.
- Work in line with all operating policies and site procedures.
- Prepare, cook, and serve menu items according to café standards.
- Help ensure product availability and uphold quality expectations.
- Know the café menu thoroughly and serve items exactly as intended.
- Handle customer concerns and escalate information to the Café Manager when needed.
- Stay informed about business updates and new initiatives.
- Clear and sanitise tables to maintain a clean dining area.
What you need to succeed
You’ll need a genuine interest in hospitality and customer care, along with practical knowledge of health and safety expectations. The role also calls for someone who can work efficiently while keeping their area clean and organised.
Success in this position depends on being a strong team player, communicating clearly, staying proactive, juggling multiple tasks, and remaining calm under pressure. Good planning, personal initiative, and flexibility in a lively environment are also important.
