Role overview
Wealden District Council is hiring a Caretaker for its offices in Hailsham. This is a permanent, full-time position focused on helping the site remain secure, tidy and operating efficiently.
The team is looking for someone dependable, proactive and capable of handling a range of caretaking and security-related tasks. A full clean driving licence is required.
What the role involves
In this position, you will support the daily running of the building and the Civic Community Hall. Key tasks include opening the premises, flagging maintenance issues, checking essential services, helping with office deliveries, and preparing or monitoring hall arrangements as needed.
You will also have an active role in safety, security and emergency procedures, working closely with relevant services where required.
Working pattern
The post requires early morning and/or late evening cover to support rotas across a six-day week, Monday to Saturday. You must also be reachable by phone when cover is needed.
Pay and benefits
The salary for this role is £26,403 to £28,537 per year. The employer also offers a pension scheme, progression through pay increments subject to satisfactory performance, a supportive team environment, and opportunities for ongoing professional development. Hybrid working is also available.
