Role Overview

Artsy is seeking a Creative Director to guide the next phase of evolution for the Artsy and Artnet brands and their visual identities at an important moment in the companies’ growth. The position will help shape how both brands appear across every audience touchpoint.

This is a broad creative leadership role spanning brand strategy, brand architecture, positioning, visual identity, campaign creation, and activation. The Creative Director will work closely with Growth Marketing, Content, Product, and executive leadership to ensure the brands are expressed consistently and thoughtfully across the business. Reporting to the VP of Marketing and Content, this leader will manage a small but high-impact creative function that influences how the brands are seen strategically, visually, and culturally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide the development of Artsy and Artnet’s brand and visual identity across all customer touchpoints, with a focus on consistency, clarity, and creative distinction.
  • Create scalable creative systems and design frameworks that support efficient delivery across channels and teams.
  • Shape the wider brand strategy, including positioning, storytelling, and visual expression.
  • Partner with Product, Growth Marketing, and Content teams to bring the brand to life in coordinated and collaborative ways.
  • Lead a compact creative team by setting priorities, clarifying direction, establishing ways of working, planning resources, and protecting quality.
  • Build scalable creative processes, design frameworks, and AI-supported workflows that help the team and the wider organization move with clarity, brand consistency, and speed.
  • Develop and mentor a small team of 1-2 brand designers while directing contractors, freelancers, and creative partners, and collaborating closely with Product Design.
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders to concept and plan integrated campaigns and programs across digital, print, video, social, and content channels.
  • Partner with Product and Product Design to create work for websites, the app, email, ad campaigns, video, audio, in-person experiences, and more.

Candidate Profile

  • Based in New York City and able to work onsite three days per week in a hybrid setup.
  • Has deep experience leading brand and visual identity work for consumer-facing companies, agencies, or culturally relevant brands.
  • Has worked both in-house and in agency or brand studio environments, bringing an understanding of how to own outcomes within a team setting.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this role is $175,000 to $220,000 per year. Compensation packages also include meaningful Artsy equity and competitive health benefits. Final pay will depend on relevant experience and the skills you bring to the team.
