Role Overview

The University of North Georgia is hiring a full-time Custodian I for its Dahlonega, Georgia campus. This is a regular, on-site position responsible for keeping assigned buildings and areas clean, orderly, and well-maintained.

Primary Duties

• Carry out routine custodial work such as sweeping, dusting, mopping, and vacuuming carpets and hard floors.
• Sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, classrooms, offices, and meeting or event spaces.
• Replenish restroom and cleaning consumables such as paper products and soap.
• Collect trash, replace liners, and transport waste for disposal.
• Keep entrances clean and remove litter from the exterior areas around buildings.
• Use and maintain cleaning tools and supplies properly, and help keep the grounds around the assigned work area tidy.
• Complete other related tasks as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, and Physical Requirements

The role calls for awareness of safety and environmental practices, the ability to follow verbal and written directions, and comfort using cleaning equipment and small hand tools. The job also requires sustained physical activity and the ability to handle duties that involve lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, walking, and standing for long periods.

Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, working from ladders, operating vehicles such as trucks and golf carts, and performing tasks in both indoor and outdoor environments. The work may involve exposure to electrical, chemical, and biological hazards.
