Role Overview

In this role, you will create, build, and launch advanced analytics and machine learning solutions that reveal valuable patterns in large, complex data sets. You will partner with business stakeholders, project managers, and engineering teams to turn practical business problems into data science solutions that are ready for production. The position blends applied research, hands-on model development, and client-facing advisory work to support organisations in progressing their data science and AI initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Convert business pain points into clear analytical problem statements and suitable solution designs.
• Develop complete data science pipelines, including data collection, cleaning, feature creation, modelling, and deployment.
• Use statistical methods, machine learning, natural language processing, optimisation, and simulation to solve difficult business challenges.
• Validate models rigorously and explain the reasoning behind model choice and performance results.
• Create scalable machine learning systems that can run reliably in production environments.
• Use Python or R together with distributed computing tools such as Apache Spark to operationalise analytics workflows.
• Deploy and maintain models through container and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Apply large language models to build generative AI or agentic AI solutions where relevant.
• Design dashboards and visualisations that turn analysis into clear, actionable insight.
• Present findings, recommendations, and learnings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients when shaping and assessing advanced analytics solutions.
• Coordinate with project managers and technical leads to share progress updates and refine analytics requirements.
• Support data architecture and engineering choices that enable analytics use cases.
• Contribute to delivery in Agile or Waterfall project environments.
• Share knowledge through internal communities of practice and special interest groups.
• Mentor and support junior data scientists and peers, depending on your level of seniority.

Required Skills and Experience

• Ability to communicate complex quantitative findings in a clear and practical way.
• Hands-on experience with large, high-dimensional structured and unstructured datasets.
• Strong feature engineering and feature selection capability across different data types.
• Solid understanding of supervised and unsupervised machine learning.
• Strong foundation in advanced analytics methods such as statistics, NLP, optimisation, and simulation.
• Strong programming ability in Python and/or R.
• Experience working with Apache Spark or similar distributed processing frameworks.
• Practical use of large language models for GenAI or agentic AI development.
• Experience with visualisation tools and libraries such as Tableau, Qlik, Plotly, ggplot2, or Shiny.
• Experience deploying and managing models using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and work effectively with business and technical teams.

Preferred Background

• Postgraduate qualification such as a Master’s or PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related discipline.
• Prior experience in AI or data analytics consulting.
• Exposure to delivering advanced analytics solutions or carrying out applied research.
• Familiarity with cloud and big data environments such as AWS, Azure, Hadoop, Spark, or Cloudera.
• Experience using DevOps practices in analytics delivery.
• Background in application or software development.
• Exposure to deep learning, reinforcement learning, or graph analytics.
• Understanding of database modelling and data warehousing concepts.
