Role overview
We are looking for a commercially focused legal leader to play a key part in delivering the infrastructure program for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. In this senior position, you will support the department’s Infrastructure group, with particular attention to the Games Infrastructure (Venues and Villages) division and the Gabba Entertainment and Housing Precinct project team.
This is a strategic opportunity within a high-profile government setting, where you will apply strong project leadership and legal judgement to simplify complex issues, provide practical solutions, and guide decision-making on matters of major state importance.
The role sits within the Legal Services team and involves work on some of Queensland’s most significant initiatives, including major projects connected to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Gabba Entertainment and Housing Precinct.
This is described as a non-traditional government legal role, with a strong emphasis on leadership, influence, and delivery rather than routine legal work.
Key focus areas
- Work closely with senior executives, decision-makers, and project leaders to deliver advice that is practical, strategic, and tailored to complex, fast-changing situations.
- Oversee legal input on major commercial, property, funding, and project delivery matters.
- Develop and sustain trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders across government.
- Provide leadership that helps drive outcomes with long-term impact for Queensland.
Work location
The team is based at 1 William Street in Brisbane’s CBD. The workplace is noted for natural light, city and river views, and convenient access to nearby public spaces.
