Role overview
WSP is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join its Hamilton team in Waikato, New Zealand. The role focuses on delivering building services electrical solutions across a varied project portfolio, with a mix of technical design, project involvement, and client interaction.

What you will do
- Create electrical engineering designs and practical technical solutions for building services projects.
- Carry out technical investigations, analysis, and design work to address challenging engineering issues.
- Support the planning, scoping, and delivery of small to medium-sized projects.
- Take on Project Manager or Task Manager responsibilities where needed to help meet client expectations.
- Prepare contract documentation and assist with delivery during the construction stage.
- Use knowledge of New Zealand electrical standards, codes, and design methods in day-to-day work.
- Work with BIM/Revit and other electrical design/modelling tools.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve coordinated design outcomes.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers, sharing expertise and helping build team capability.
- Develop client relationships and contribute to business growth opportunities.
About you
The ideal candidate is a practical, solutions-driven electrical engineer who is comfortable balancing design work, project delivery, and client-facing responsibilities.
- Hold a BE in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Bring roughly 5 or more years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in building services.
- Understand New Zealand electrical standards, codes, and design practice.
- Have experience using design modelling software such as BIM/Revit or similar tools.
- Be able to produce high-quality technical work and contribute effectively to projects.
- Communicate clearly and work well with others across teams.
- Demonstrate a proactive, problem-solving, client-focused mindset.
- Hold a current, clean driver’s licence.
