Role Overview
This part-time Finance Accountant position supports the Retail Finance team. The role is structured for three days per week, or an equivalent arrangement, and is designed to offer flexibility alongside exposure to a wide range of accounting work. It suits someone looking for reduced hours without stepping away from a commercially important and professionally rewarding environment.
The role involves reporting, reconciliations, and financial control responsibilities, while also partnering with operational teams across a large, multi-site business. The company encourages open discussion about how the role can be shaped to work well for the right candidate.
Key Duties
- Handle month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance reviews.
- Keep balance sheet accounts accurate and take the lead in resolving reconciliation issues.
- Assist with financial reporting obligations such as BAS, FBT, audit requirements, and statutory submissions.
- Reconcile bank and transaction activity, including online payments and merchant processing platforms.
- Support stores and the franchise network with financial queries and issue resolution.
- Contribute to finance control tasks and identify risks as well as opportunities to improve processes.
- Help with process enhancement, system upgrades, and finance-related projects.
- Work closely with internal teams and stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely financial outcomes.
Required Background
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CA/CPA qualification, or progress toward one, is preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in financial accounting or finance analysis.
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles and internal financial controls.
- Strong attention to detail, with good analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Advanced Excel capability and experience using ERP systems.
- The ability to balance several priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Clear communication skills and the confidence to work with stakeholders at different levels.
