Government Relations Representative

Role overview

CargoX is looking for a senior government relations professional to lead engagement with UAE authorities and help clear the regulatory route for autonomous delivery vehicles. This position sits at the intersection of policy, approvals, and operations, ensuring the company can test, launch, and expand its fleet in line with local and federal requirements.

The role is based in Abu Dhabi and involves representing CargoX with transport, mobility, and other government bodies across the emirates. You will work closely with decision-makers, build trusted relationships at senior levels, and help shape a regulatory environment that is still evolving for autonomous logistics.

Key duties

You will manage CargoX’s relationships with transport and government regulators in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and at the federal level. A major part of the role is to secure permits, licenses, and approvals needed for trials and commercial operations, while guiding the company through every stage of the regulatory process.

In addition, you will contribute to policy discussions, participate in consultations and working groups, and represent the business with policymakers as autonomous-vehicle frameworks are developed. You will also monitor regulatory changes across emirates, interpret their impact on the business, and keep leadership informed.

The role requires coordinating approvals for pilots and route launches with internal teams so that operating plans are acceptable to regulators. You will also help safeguard the company’s authorization to operate by ensuring compliance with operating conditions, safety requirements, and reporting duties.

Other responsibilities include representing CargoX at government forums and innovation events, supporting trust-building with public institutions, collaborating with legal, operations, product, and leadership teams, and developing a scalable government-relations approach as the company enters new emirates and markets.

Requirements

The ideal candidate has at least 6 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, regulatory affairs, or policy, preferably within transport, mobility, logistics, autonomous systems, technology, or another heavily regulated sector.

Strong working relationships with UAE government and transport authorities, across both emirate-level and federal bodies, are highly preferred. You should understand how the UAE regulatory system works and how decisions are made across local and federal channels.

Experience in obtaining permits, licenses, or formal approvals in a complex regulatory environment is important. The role also calls for fluency in both Arabic and English, along with the presence, tact, and diplomacy needed to engage senior government stakeholders.

Successful candidates should be comfortable navigating unclear regulatory environments, capable of building consensus among many stakeholders, and able to translate regulatory requirements into practical business decisions. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills are essential.
